Serve drinks, be nice to customers, keep the money count straight.

Sorry to be glib, but I think it's a pretty simple job.

In addtn to serve drinks, be nice, keep money straight, I've got my bartenders cleaning the bar area, cutting fruit, emptying glass etc to recycle, spraying out bar garbage pails, emptying cigs, stocking. Sound about right? Anything else?

Maybe if you work at a steak house or sushi bar where the food is the primary market.

Spoken like someone that never poured a drink nor learned through experience the nuances required to make this not only a profitable profession, but a valued posting and promotional asset to a bar/nightclub.

Serve great drinks fast and do not over pour. Be able to command the bar enviroment and manipulate the bar patrons pyshcie. Man I can go on and on on this subject, but I have to clip my toe nails.

The bartender is your main man/woman. If they are anything less then you probably operate a venue known for everything but drinks.
